Dr.Hameed Azeb Shahul (who goes by Dr.Azeb) is a double-board certified psychiatrist, who graduated from the New York Medical College residency program at Westchester Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (psychiatric treatment of the medically ill) from Yale University.

Dr.Azeb has several years of experience at The Mount Sinai Hospital, where he managed a range of complex clinical situations at the intersection of psychiatry and other medical specialties. He held an academic appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine, mentoring trainees at various levels, and is the recipient of multiple awards during his training and practice years such as the American Psychiatric Association’s Resident Recognition Award, and the Excellence in Medical Student Education Award.

With a lifelong interest in working at the crossroads of the Sciences and the Humanities, Dr.Azeb firmly believes that the ultimate goal of psychiatry is to unleash human potential. To this end, he offers medication management and psychotherapy services, while attempting to

balance the rigorous process of diagnosing and treating mental illness, with the larger goal of understanding the individual, and situating their challenges within the context of their life stories.
